The Community Development Department consists of planning, zoning, GIS, and building inspections.

The Town of Surf City adopted the Comprehensive Land Use Plan at the Feb 7th, 2023 council meeting.

To register for a permit click the link above to create an account or sign in to viewpoint. Once logged in select your permit, the ViewPoint system has further instructions on how to submit the application and other required documents. Also included are detailed instructions on how to request inspections online and receive inspection results. Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) Permits

The State of North Carolina requires that a special CAMA permit be obtained for areas located near coastal waters. Access the North Carolina Environmental Quality Division of Coastal Management website for more information on CAMA permits or contact Jason Dail at 910-796-7221.
