1. When is town hall open?

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Except for Holidays. Please see Town Calendar or contact Town Hall.

2. Where do I apply for a dog license?

 Dog licenses (PDF) are available upstairs in Town Hall.

3. When are Town Council Meetings?

Town Council Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. at the Surf City Community Center Gym. Find more information on the Council page.

4. When does the Planning Board meet?

The Planning Board meetings are scheduled for the second Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m.

5. Are vehicles allowed on the beach?

Permits are issued for driving on the beach for fishing purposes only September 10 through May 15. Permits are issued at the Surf City Police Department located at 305 N  New River Drive between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week.

• There is a beach access for four wheel drive vehicles only located at Kinston Avenue just south of the Surf City Pier.
• Night driving shall be allowed for fishing purposes October 1st to May 1st.
• No vehicle shall be allowed on the beach except in the beach are between the 1300 block of South Shore on the south and Dolphin Street on the north.

There is no cost for handicap individuals. They may drive on the beach for recreational access or fishing, only during permitted time frames. For more information, contact Town Hall.

Put your cart out the night before the scheduled pickup and no more than three feet from the roadway. Only household trash is picked up. No yard debris or building materials will be picked up. Do not leave bags on the ground, they will not be picked up.

10. Where do I pay my utility bill?

Pender County Residents

Utility bills may be sent by mail, dropped off to the utility clerk in town hall, or placed in the drop box located at the front entrance to town hall. If the utility clerk is not at her desk please take your payment upstairs and someone will help you. Bank drafting for your utility bill is highly recommended.

13. How can I get information on beach weddings?

If the wedding is held within the town limits of Surf City a permit is not required, but it's a good idea to check with the Parks and Recreation Department at 910-328-4887 to see if anything else will be happening at the location that you want to use. Also make the Police Department 910-328-7711 aware of the event. The wedding party and guests should be aware that cars must be parked completely off all paved streets, bike paths and sidewalks.Walking on or disturbing the dunes is not allowed.

14. I'm having issues with my vacation / private home. What should I do?

If you are concerned about the integrity of your home, mold, decks, windows, roof concerns, water intrusion or any other multitude of issues that may arise during a vacation or home ownership the Town recommends the following:

• Renter / vacations should report any issues to their rental agency
• Homeowners should contact the proper professional to have any issues remedied and if needed have the work permitted and inspected by the proper agency
